What is AI and will it take my job? With Professor Patrick Sturgis
In this talk, Patrick will provide a non-technical overview of Artificial Intelligence (AI), specifically Large Language Models, explain how they work and the sorts of tasks they can be used for. Unlike previous technological transformations, like the printing press or the industrial revolution, which mostly impacted working class jobs, Generative AI is widely expected to displace highly-paid white collar occupations such as lawyers, accountants, and architects. I will assess the plausibility of this ‘middle-class jobs apocalypse’ theory.
